Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much do you charge?
The rates I charge are based on the complexity of the tax return. The rates for the Federal return begin at $45.00 and increase from there. The State return begins at $18.00.

Yes, an appointment is necessary for drop=off s.

Q. Are you available evenings and weekends?

Q. Can I drop off my papers and you call when done?
All returns are done on a drop-off basis only; they are not prepared while you wait. A short info sheet and questionnaire need to be filled out that ensures I have all the information I need to prepare your return.

Q. How long does it usually take?
It typically takes 48 to 72 hours to prepare your return. There are times when it will take longer based on the complexity of the return.

Q. Can I fill out my own form and you electronic file it?
No, the cost associated with creating your return for electronic filing does not justify my time to do it. Electronic filing is a free service provided when your return is prepared by my firm.

Q. When will I get my refund?
No person or firm can guarantee when you will receive your refund. The IRS controls when you will get your refund. Based on past years, if you file your return by Wednesday of the week, your refund might be in your mailbox the following Friday.

Q. How can I pay for having my taxes prepared?
I accept either cash or check for all services.

Q. Where are you located?
My office is located out of my home at 3921 Shenandoah Drive in Crystal Lake.

Q. Do you guarantee your work?
I stand behind the work I do. If I make an error, I will correct it and pay the penalty and interest incurred. Of course, this only applies if it is my error and not an omission of pertinent information on your part.
